(01) — The story
Eighteen volcanic islands where grass roofs meet sea cliffs and the weather changes its mind every eleven minutes.
The Faroes sit alone in the North Atlantic, halfway between Iceland and Norway, and they behave like it. Sheep outnumber people, tunnels run under the sea, and waterfalls drop straight into the ocean from cliffs so tall the spray drifts back up.
Why we love it
Our itinerary follows the islands’ own rhythm: ferry days, fog days, and the sudden clear afternoons when you can see from Slættaratindur all the way to the edge of the archipelago. Dinners are at a farmhouse table in Kirkjubøur, where the family has fermented lamb for 17 generations.
