(About) — Since 2014
We plan the trips we’d take ourselves.
OFF MAP started with two friends, one broken-down Land Rover and a week in the Westfjords nobody had planned. Today we’re a studio of twelve, still allergic to crowds.

(01) — How we work
Four rules we don’t break.
01
Slept there first
We never sell a stay we haven’t slept in. Every bed, every host, every breakfast — tested by someone on our team.
02
Eight people, max
Small groups mean you meet the place, not the other tourists. Most of our journeys run with six.
03
Local, then logistics
We start with the people who live there. Guides, hosts and cooks are paid fairly and booked directly.
04
Leave it quieter
We cap our visits, travel off-season when we can, and put 3% of every journey into local conservation.
(02) — The long way round
Ten years, drawn as a line.
Scroll sideways — or drag on touch — through a decade of wrong turns that turned out right.
2014
The Westfjords
A broken-down Land Rover and seven unplanned days. The idea for OFF MAP is born over lamb soup.
2016
First journey
Six strangers, one guide, the Faroe Islands in October. All six came back the next year.
2018
Stays, too
We start booking the places we loved on their own — turf houses first.
2020
The quiet year
No travel. We visit 40 hosts by video and plan the next five years.
2022
Southern hemisphere
Atacama, Patagonia and the Namib join the map.
2024
Twelve of us
A studio in Lisbon, a team of twelve and 3,200 travellers.
2026
Still wandering
Hokkaido in winter. Song-Köl on horseback. The map keeps growing.
(03) — The studio
The people behind the map.
